about us.
Our ‘Why?’
We believe in supporting, representing, enabling and connecting the global workforce planning community in everything we do.
About The Workforce Planning Institute
The Workforce Planning Institute (the Institute) is the global association representing workforce planning professionals spanning all corners of the globe.
As a professional body for workforce planning globally, the Institute exists to grow, support and connect the strategic workforce planning community through communication of ‘good practice’, industry stewardship, acknowledgement of innovation and sector leadership, and providing a global platform for workforce planners to gather, communicate and share knowledge, learning and experience.
The Institute was founded to support collaboration, foster innovation and develop workforce planning capability across the public, private, government and not for profit sectors worldwide.
As well as serving as a body of knowledge and forum for sharing ideas, thoughts and information, the Institute offers a range of capability development opportunities through public and private training courses, webinars and publicly shared content.
Professional membership with the Institute ensures that existing and aspiring workforce planners:
- Have access to a library of supporting content including standards, guidelines, tools and templates
- Can share in each others successes, challenges and innovations with members across the globe
- Acknowledge and abide by a professional code of conduct
- Are supported in their professional development through a range of training and certification opportunities
- Have exclusive visibility over global workforce planning opportunities along with the opportunity to present their own career opportunities to a concentrated audience of qualified workforce planning professionals
As a global body, The Workforce Planning Institute provides education and networking opportunities across the world, including the delivery of the world-class Strategic Workforce Planning Summit in Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific each year. The Institute also acknowledges excellence in workforce planning practices across the globe through our renowned International Recognition and Awards Program.
The Institute is supported by an Advisory Board and various Sub-Committees who develop standards and build content to support strategic workforce planning practice and education world-wide.
Our Vision
We believe in a world where:
- Strategic workforce planning is acknowledged as an independent function and not a misplaced ‘subset’. We strive towards this world by providing workforce planners with their own, independent professional body.
- Workforce planners are given a voice and an opportunity to network, collaborate and share with other organisations and individuals. We strive towards this world through our international awards program, global networking opportunities and sharing good news, interviews and videocasts through social media platforms.
- The workforce planning community has cost effective access to content, guidelines, tools and templates. We strive towards this world by providing our members access to The Workforce Planning Institute library.
- Aspiring and experienced workforce planners have access to training and professional development opportunities. We strive to achieve this by offering a range of professional development opportunities to both our members and the broader community.
- Good workforce planning practice is supported and endorsed and the notion of ‘best practice through benchmarking’ is no longer relevant. We strive towards this world through our Strategic Workforce Planning Industry Standard which sets out a framework and set of guiding principles yet allows for, and encourages, individual and organisational nuances, requirements and customisation.
- Strategic workforce planning has a seat at the executive table. We strive to achieve this through our relentless provision of strategic workforce planning representation and advocacy.
Our Values
In everything we do, we believe in:
Advocacy – We serve our sector and our members
- We passionately support, represent and lobby for strategic workforce planning and workforce planning professionals whether they are paid Institute members or otherwise. We promote the sector and strive to demonstrate the value, importance and ongoing relevance of what our members and other industry professionals do.
Connection – We serve as the conduit.
- We connect! We connect members to other members, organisations and industries. We connect members to content and supporting materials. We connect members and non members to learning and development opportunities and we connect members to global career opportunities. Most importantly, we are connected, connected to our members, our industry and the workforce planning community.
Collaboration – We believe on the power of many
- Nobody has all the answers (ourselves included) however through the collective cognitive diversity, insight and innovation potential of our global membership base we provide opportunities to share knowledge, experience and success stories through forums, webinars, video blogs, social media content and of course, our global conferences.
Recognition – Acknowledge the effort and praise the process
- We recognise the importance the role of recognition plays in the support and advocacy of strategic workforce planning. We strive to recognise and acknowledge good workforce planning practice and innovative workforce solutions informally through our social media voice and formally through our International Awards Program.
